Work hard, play hard. That has always been my motto. Dentistry is a grueling profession. Patients are hit or miss. Some love dental visits and others despise them, only making appointments when they are in discomfort or pain. I take pride in my patience with patients. I would be doing a disservice to them if I were to offer them anything less than compassion, understanding, patience, and quality dentistry. The amount of energy spent on patient-care comes at a cost, and that cost is emotional exhaustion. In order to balance the daily demands of dentistry, I make a point of traveling and experiencing different cultures, where I can let myself just “be.”
Travel is a way for me to let loose. There are no demands. Travel is a time where I get to be selfish and experience a new place with new eyes. Last week I visited Ireland! It was a really pleasant time. I LOVED the crisp air in the mornings, and the hustle and bustle of Dublin. Irish is its own language, and the country had signs posted in both Irish (Gaelic) and English! This is a culture that dates back thousands of years.
If I could say a few things about Ireland it would be this: castles and cathedrals, libraries and parliament buildings, gardens and pubs, seaside restaurants, live music, whiskey and GUINESS! We visited the Jameson Distillery and the Guiness brewery while there. I had a phenomenal time and I am thankful to Mimi, my mom and behind the scenes talent of Wakim Dentistry for accompanying me on this incredible trip. In addition, my brother Alex came along. He has worked the front desk at our office as a summer job, but is now living in NYC as a music composer.
Please enjoy some pictures from our trip, and know that we look forward to treating you at Wakim Cosmetic & Family Dental Group when the time is right for you. If you would like to schedule a visit with one of our dedicated dentists, please call 316-721-4477 today!
